Tool balancer buying guide
Specialty Spring Balancers: Bowden, Hose & Synthetic Rope
Specialty spring-balancer configurations
Not every application is a straight vertical tool hanging from a steel cable. TECNA also builds spring-balancer configurations for remote mounting, pneumatic tools, delicate surfaces and non-standard geometry. These options matter when the application is constrained by space, hose routing, surface protection or movement direction.
Bowden Retractors
A Bowden retractor moves the spring-balancing force through a flexible outer sleeve, so the balancer itself does not need to sit directly above the application point.
Use it when
The application point moves, the balancer must be mounted under or beside the workstation, or normal top-down mounting is impractical.
Manufacturer range
TECNA lists Bowden retractors up to 14 kg, with stroke lengths up to 2.5 m and Bowden sleeve lengths from 0.5 to 2.5 m, depending on model.
Typical applications
Automation, sliding rails, moving arms, doors, drawers and workstations with restricted overhead space.
Dyneema® Spring Balancers
The Dyneema line replaces steel rope with a high-strength synthetic fibre where surface protection or a less conventional cable path is important.
Use it when
A steel rope could mark or scratch a sensitive surface, or when the application geometry benefits from a flexible synthetic line.
What changes
The suspension medium changes; the balancer still has to be selected for the correct rated load and stroke.
Selection point
Confirm rope material, load range, stroke and the actual path the line will travel.
Hose Spring Balancers
TECNA hose balancers combine tool suspension with the air-supply hose, reducing the need for a separate supporting cable and hose arrangement.
Use it when
A suspended pneumatic tool needs both support and compressed-air delivery at the workstation.
Manufacturer range
TECNA currently lists hose-balancer models from 0.4–0.8 kg through 3–5 kg.
Typical applications
Pneumatic assembly tools and production stations where hose management is part of the ergonomic problem.
