Description
Apollo B Arc Welding Rods – High-Impact Electrodes for Dissimilar and Hard-to-Weld Steels (SMAW) - 2lb Tube
Product Description
Tough, machinable welds for extreme conditions.
Apollo B rods are engineered to join dissimilar steels, build up high-wear parts, and overlay hard-to-weld materials like manganese and stainless. With 105,000 psi tensile strength and 37% elongation, Apollo B offers exceptional impact resistance, ductility, and hot hardness up to 1000°F (538°C).
Ideal for industrial maintenance and equipment repairs, Apollo B deposits can be machined and will work harden to 45 RC, making them suitable as a base layer or final repair on crusher rolls, wedge bars, and valve seats.
Key Features
- 105,000 psi tensile strength
- Work-hardens up to 45 RC
- 37% elongation for superior ductility
- Excellent for joining dissimilar or alloyed steels
- No preheat required on most steels
- Machinable and impact-resistant
- Effective under high heat and wear (up to 1000°F)
- AC or DCEP operation
Packaging & Sizes
- Electrode length: 14"
- Sold in 2 lb, 5 lb, or 11 lb plastic tubes
- Available diameters:
- 1/8"

Welding Instructions
- Clean the work surface and remove all cracks
- Use higher current on first pass when welding over work-hardened areas
- No preheat needed on most steels
- Apply stringer beads rather than weaving
- Use a heavy root pass when joining materials
Applications
- Dissimilar metal joining (e.g. stainless to carbon steel)
- Overlay and buildup on manganese and carbon steels
- Valve seats, crusher rolls, and wedge bars
- Base layers prior to hardfacing (Olympia, Omega, or Zeta recommended)
