The Lincoln Electric Cool-Arc 40 is an industrial water cooler for water-cooled MIG and TIG welding systems as well as plasma cutting applications. Stock number K1813-1 is the 115V, single-phase, 50/60 Hz model.

The Cool-Arc 40 uses an industry-standard Pro-Con internal water pump designed for continuous operation. The pump provides 60 PSIG open pressure and typical operating pressure of 53–57 PSIG. Open flow is rated at 1.66 gal./min., with typical flow of 0.45–0.60 gal./min.

A non-corrosive 2-gallon polyethylene reservoir keeps the cooler relatively light while providing enough coolant capacity for demanding welding applications. The unit can be operated horizontally or vertically, which helps reduce its footprint when mounted with compatible Lincoln welding equipment.

The cooler is compatible with Lincoln water-cooled systems, including Cobramatic water-cooled push-pull torches. Color-coded coolant inlet and outlet connections use standard female CGA-style 5/8-18 left-hand threads.

Stock number K1813-1 operates from 115V power and includes a male three-prong NEMA 5-15P plug. Input current is 3.2 amps at 60 Hz and 4.0 amps at 50 Hz. The unit measures 34 x 9 x 9 in. and weighs 45 lb. empty or 61.2 lb. with the reservoir full.

For operation above freezing, Lincoln specifies clean tap, distilled or deionized water. For operation below freezing, the manufacturer specifies a 50/50 mixture of pure ethylene glycol and water. Oil-based coolants and automotive antifreeze containing rust or leak inhibitors should not be used.
