What is developer and how it is used in welding?

A developer is a substance used in welding inspections, particularly in penetrant testing. It is applied after a penetrant solution has been used to detect surface defects like cracks or pores in welds. The developer draws the penetrant out from the defects, making them visible against a contrasting background. This makes it easier for inspectors to identify and evaluate any flaws in the weld or material being tested. In simple terms, a developer helps make welding defects easier to see during inspections.
