Description
Zeta C Arc Welding Rods – Tubular Hardfacing Electrodes for Extreme Abrasion Resistance (SMAW) - 2lb Tube
Product Description
The fastest-depositing rod for brutal wear conditions.
Zeta C is a high-performance tubular hardfacing rod engineered for extreme abrasion with or without impact. It delivers a hardness of 58–62 RC and a weld metal deposit rate over 50% greater than traditional hardfacing rods. With its ultra-high alloy content (38%) and low heat requirements, Zeta C maximizes protection while minimizing downtime.
The unique tubular design provides wire-feed level deposition speeds—up to 10 lbs per hour—making it ideal for industrial wear surface applications in mining, dredging, earthmoving, and manufacturing.
Key Features
- Hardness: 58–62 RC
- Unique tubular design for faster deposits (up to 10 lbs/hr)
- Low heat input for reduced base metal distortion
- Super high alloy content (38%)
- Resists extreme abrasion—even with impact
- Minimal waste, smooth deposition
- No special storage needed—flux coating is atmosphere-resistant
- Operates with AC or DCEP
Packaging & Sizes
- Electrode length: 14"
- Sold in custom weight options due to heavy gauge
- Available diameters:
- 1/4"
- 3/8"
- 1/2"
Recommended Amperage Settings (±40%)
- 1/4": 100 Amps
- 1/2": 225 Amps
- Use AC or DC reverse polarity (DCEP)
Welding Instructions
- Weld downward or with a slight uphill slope for heavier buildup
- Remove all rust, scale, and fatigued metal before welding
- Preheat thick or alloy steels to reduce cracking
- Do not preheat manganese steels (11–14%)—weld cold
- Stress-relief cracks are expected and do not reduce wear integrity
- Limit deposits to a maximum of two layers
Applications
- Pump castings and impellers
- Crusher hammers and brick plant parts
- Suction dredge cutters and dragline buckets
- Railway ballast tampers and clam shell buckets
- Agricultural tools, earthmovers, and sizing screens
- Rolling mill guides and dredge bucket lips
