Description

Tartan Flux Core Wire – .035" Self-Shielded FCAW for Thin Gauge Steel and Galvanized Applications - 2lb Spool

Product Description

All-position performance. Minimal spatter. Clean results.
Tartan Flux Core .035" is a self-shielded flux-core wire engineered for welding mild and medium alloy steels—especially thin gauge material and galvanized steel. Designed for single-pass applications, this wire provides smooth arc characteristics, easy slag removal, and excellent weld puddle control in all positions.

With a tensile strength of 80,000 psi and up to 98% deposition efficiency, Tartan FC is ideal for portable wire feeders and field repair work. While shielding gas is not required, optional use of 100% CO₂ can further enhance weld bead appearance and reduce spatter.

Key Features

  • Diameter: .035" (0.9mm)
  • Voltage: 15–17 volts
  • Amperage: 70–200 amps
  • Stick-out: 1/2"
  • Tensile strength: 80,000 psi
  • Excellent out-of-position characteristics
  • Smooth arc with low spatter
  • Superior for thin-gauge and galvanized steel
  • High deposition efficiency (96–98%)
  • Use DCEN (straight polarity)
  • Available in 2lb & 10 lb spools

Optional Shielding Gas

  • Not required, but 100% CO₂ may improve bead profile and reduce spatter

Recommended Applications

  • Galvanized steel repair
  • Thin gauge mild or medium alloy steel
  • Single-pass fabrication and field welding
  • Portable suitcase wire feeder setups
  • General-purpose outdoor FCAW

Best Practices

  • Use straight polarity (DCEN)
  • Maintain 1/2" stick-out for optimal arc control
  • Clean base metal where possible
